Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
Using Your Own Blood as a Regenerative Option
Platelet-Rich Plasma, commonly called PRP, is prepared from a small sample of your own blood. The blood is processed to concentrate platelets, which contain growth factors involved in the body's normal healing response.
At Regenerative Medicine of Raynham, PRP is not our primary regenerative approach, but it may be considered in selected situations when we believe it is appropriate for the individual patient.
Serving Raynham, MA and Southeastern Massachusetts.
What Is PRP?
PRP is an autologous procedure, meaning the material comes from your own body. A blood sample is collected and processed to separate and concentrate the platelet-containing portion of the blood. The resulting preparation can then be used as part of a regenerative procedure.
Because PRP preparation methods and patient factors vary, not all PRP preparations are identical and outcomes can vary.
When Might We Consider PRP?
We don't recommend PRP simply because someone has joint or tendon pain. The decision depends on factors such as your examination findings, the tissue involved, the nature and duration of the problem, previous care and your overall goals.
For some patients, PRP may be considered as one component of a broader plan designed to support the body's natural healing and recovery processes.
Our Approach
- 1
Evaluate First
Understand what may be contributing to the problem.
- 2
Choose the Appropriate Option
Determine whether PRP — or another conservative or regenerative approach — makes the most sense.
- 3
Restore Function
Address movement, strength and other factors that may influence long-term function.
Is PRP Right for You?
PRP is not appropriate or necessary for every patient.
An evaluation allows us to determine whether PRP, another regenerative option, conservative care, rehabilitation, or referral to another healthcare provider may be more appropriate.
We don't begin with a procedure. We begin with understanding you.

Important Information
PRP is prepared from a patient's own blood. Evidence regarding PRP varies depending on the condition being evaluated, the PRP preparation and individual patient factors. PRP should not be interpreted as a guaranteed method of regenerating cartilage or other tissue, curing disease, or producing a particular clinical outcome. Individual results vary.
