Most patients describe a gentle pulling sensation at the knee. You remain clothed and lie on a treatment table for the duration of the session.

Is it used on its own?

Usually not. When appropriate, it is combined with other supportive care determined by your evaluation.

How do you decide whether this is appropriate for me?

Through an evaluation. We review your history, examine you, look at any relevant imaging or laboratory information, and discuss your goals. Only then do we talk about whether this option — or any option — makes sense for your situation.

Is this covered by insurance?

Most of the services in this category are not covered by insurance. We discuss cost openly before anything is scheduled, so you can make an informed decision.

What happens if this isn't the right fit for me?

At Regenerative Medicine of Raynham, we use the Knee On Trac system by Ergo-Flex Technologies as a non-invasive option within individualized treatment plans for selected patients with knee pain, stiffness or limitations in function.

Knee decompression uses computer-controlled mechanical distraction to gently reduce compressive load within the knee joint during a session. At Regenerative Medicine of Raynham it is considered as one part of an individualized plan, after an evaluation determines whether joint loading and mechanics are contributing to your symptoms. It is non-invasive and performed in-office.

What Is Knee Decompression?

The Knee On Trac system uses controlled, progressive traction applied to the knee while the patient is comfortably seated.

The amount of traction can be adjusted to the individual patient. The goal is to temporarily reduce compressive loading across the knee and provide controlled mechanical distraction of the joint.

Treatment is non-surgical and does not involve injections or medication.

Depending on the patient's evaluation and clinical findings, knee decompression may be considered for individuals experiencing:
