A computer-controlled table applies gentle, measured distraction to the spine to reduce compressive load during the session. Nothing is injected and no surgery is involved.

Do I need imaging before starting?

We review any relevant imaging you already have and discuss whether additional imaging is warranted before considering decompression.

Is anyone not a candidate?

Yes. Certain spinal conditions, hardware, fractures and other findings make decompression inappropriate. That is one of the things the evaluation is for.

How do you decide whether this is appropriate for me?

Through an evaluation. We review your history, examine you, look at any relevant imaging or laboratory information, and discuss your goals. Only then do we talk about whether this option — or any option — makes sense for your situation.

Is this covered by insurance?

Most of the services in this category are not covered by insurance. We discuss cost openly before anything is scheduled, so you can make an informed decision.

What happens if this isn't the right fit for me?

Non-surgical spinal decompression uses computer-controlled distraction to reduce compressive load on the spine during a session. At Regenerative Medicine of Raynham, it is considered after an evaluation and imaging review indicate that disc or spinal loading may be contributing to your symptoms. It is non-invasive, performed in-office, and used as part of an individualized plan.

What Is Back On Trac?

Back On Trac is a specialized seated spinal traction system that applies controlled mechanical distraction to the spine.

Unlike traditional traction tables, the patient is positioned in a comfortable therapeutic chair. The system allows controlled traction to be delivered without the traditional belts and harnesses commonly associated with spinal traction.

The amount and type of traction can be adjusted according to the patient's condition, examination findings and treatment goals. Treatment is non-surgical and does not involve injections or medication.

When Might We Consider Spinal Decompression?

Depending on the patient's evaluation and clinical findings, Back On Trac may be considered for selected patients experiencing:

Low Back Pain
Disc-Related Problems
Sciatica or Radiating Leg Symptoms
Degenerative Spinal Changes
Facet-Related Pain
Certain Types of Mechanical Back Pain

The FDA-cleared labeling for Back On Trac includes powered traction intended to relieve pressure on structures that may be contributing to skeletal or muscular pain and identifies conditions including herniated, protruding and extruded discs, sciatica, spondylosis and facet syndrome.

Whether spinal decompression is appropriate depends on the patient's health history, examination findings, symptoms, available imaging and individual goals.
