Functional Medicine
Looking Beyond Where It Hurts
Over the years, I began noticing something interesting. Most of our patients responded well, but there was a smaller group that simply wasn't responding the way I expected.
I began asking a different question: What if the problem isn't just what we're doing to the injured area? What if the internal environment of the patient's body is also influencing their ability to recover?
That realization led me to pursue advanced training in functional medicine through the Kharrazian Institute and become an Advanced Functional Medicine Clinician. It changed the way I look at recovery.
Today, when appropriate, I don't just look at the joint, tendon or nerve that's hurting. I also consider the metabolic, nutritional and physiological factors that may influence the body's capacity for recovery.
Serving Raynham, MA and Southeastern Massachusetts.
Why the Internal Environment Matters
Recovery doesn't happen in isolation. Metabolic, nutritional and physiological factors can influence how well the body responds to care directed at an injured joint, tendon or nerve.
When appropriate, a functional-medicine perspective is used alongside the rest of the evaluation to understand what may be limiting recovery for an individual patient.

Is a Functional-Medicine Perspective Right for You?
Not every patient needs one. It is considered when the findings suggest that factors beyond the painful area may be influencing recovery.
We don't begin with a treatment. We begin with an evaluation.
