Shockwave therapy is a pulsation treatment that involves creating a series of acoustic (sound) wave pulsations that are directly applied to an injury through a patient’s skin via an ultrasound gel medium. Treatments have proven successful in many of scientific studies for the treatment of long term/chronic conditions. The purpose of the therapy is to trigger the body’s own natural healing response. Many patients report that their pain is reduced and mobility improved after the first treatment.

In comparison to ultrasound therapy waves, the shockwave peak pressure is approximately 1000 times greater than the peak pressure of an ultrasound wave.
